Meet the Board

The Savannah Cat Care Fund Board is comprised of savannah cat pet owners and breeders with varied expertise and experience. Most board members are well known to the savannah cat community; and we are all volunteers who have donated our time, money and expertise to bring SVCCF to fruition. We have no facility and no paid staff. All the money from donations goes directly to the emergency care of savannah cats.

President – Paige Dana

Paige was a NICU Registered Nurse as well as Pediatric Emergency Room Nurse. She served her country as an officer in the USAR as a Critical Care Nurse. Paige is a passionate, outspoken proponent of the savannah cat breed and has been involved with and advocating for the breed, since 2010. Paige is the current TICA Savannah Breed Section Chair, owner of the only forum for savannah cats – Savannah Cat Chat – and owner of several large savannah cat FB groups. She has volunteered her time with Savannah Rescue for the past 5 years. The Savannah Cat Care Fund is her brainchild, but could not have been brought to fruition without the dedication of many others.

Secretary – Deborah Frierson

In order to fulfill her desire to work with animals, she completed training and certification as a wildlife rehabilitator and volunteered at a wildlife rehab center in Oregon. While there she wrote housing and dietary protocol manuals and eventually became co-director of the facility.  She moved on to become volunteer coordinator and wildlife rehabber/educator at Frontera Audubon in Texas before returning to Oregon to acquire her master’s degree in management.

The cats bring her much joy and love and she wants to give back to the Savannah Community!  Kathy works as a team member of Savannah Cat Rescue and is honored to be part of the Savannah Cat Care Board.

Director – Paul Casaudoumecq

Paul is a practicing attorney in California.  When he is not climbing or snowboarding he spends his free time training dogs and cats and breeding Savannah Cats in rural Placer County, Ca.

Director – Valerie Miller

Valerie is a passionate and dedicated person who will rescue any animal in need. She is an Executive Territory Manager and Certified Wound & Ostomy Nurse, and also serves as the current Treasurer for the Florida Association of Enterostomal Therapy Nurses. Valerie enjoys the outdoor lifestyle of Florida and her hobbies include golf, painting, and nature walks. Most of all, she enjoys spending time with her family and their 4 cats.

Savannah Cat Care Fund Mission

The mission of SVCCF is to ensure that decisions about emergency medical treatment for savannah cat pets is never made solely on the basis of cost. No savannah cat pet should suffer because an owner cannot afford emergency medical treatment, nor should a savannah pet cat owner be forced to euthanize or surrender a savannah cat due to unexpected costs of emergency medical treatment. Our goal is to provide financial assistance for emergency treatment of savannah cat pets so their owners do not have to make those difficult decisions. In addition, we provide information to owners about preventative care and other financial services with the goal of avoiding future health emergencies.

Our Story

Savannah Cat Care Fund (SVCCF) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to provide financial assistance throughout the United States to Savannah pet cat owners who cannot afford emergency care for their Savannah cat. SVCCF financial assistance applies to all illnesses and injuries requiring immediate emergency or urgent care.

The fund was started because we were disheartened by the savannah cats euthanized and/or surrendered because the owner(s) could not pay veterinary bills. This fund has been years in the making…as our breed grows, so do its needs.

Savannah Cat Care Fund was discussed with the Directors of Savannah Rescue (Brigitte Cowell Moyne and Kristine C. Alessio). Paige Dana and Kathleen Mcgown are on the SV Rescue team and our thinking was we needed to have an organization that could help pet savannahs BEFORE they were surrendered and/or euthanized. We would be help SV Rescue, our savannah cats and the community.

Fast Forward – A group was formed from the idea and the idea came to fruition, with the help of many people. We formed a non profit organization with a Board of Directors and moved ahead. BUT…we cannot help anyone without the money to do so. SVCCF will work with SV Rescue to do just that. We will also work with the community and anyone that needs emergency funds to save or help their savannah pet.

The goals of Savannah Cat Care Fund are:

  1. To generate financial support for the organization’s initiatives, through outreach and fundraising, with a primary focus on providing financial assistance to Savannah pet cat owners experiencing financial hardship due to unanticipated emergency/urgent cat care expenses;
  2. To work with Savannah Rescue and help/save savannah cats BEFORE they are surrendered or euthanized due to the inability of an owner to provide emergency veterinary care.
  3. To work with veterinarians on accepting pet insurance and allowing owners to pay only deductibles and copays;
  4. To provide education and resources to Savannah owners as needed.

Savannah cat is defined as (a) a Savannah with TICA registration; or, (b) a Savannah rescued from SV Rescue with proof of such; or, (c) a cat with no registration papers but deemed a savannah by the SVCCF Board of Directors or their appointees; or, (d) a Savannah recognized and confirmed as such by the cat’s breeder.

Note: The amount of financial assistance provided is determined on a case-by-case basis by the Savannah Cat Care Fund Organization and is dependent upon available funds. Funding is not provided for routine care, vaccines, spay or neuter.
